The project ran over challenging terrain where there were strict environmental requirements to ensure protection of the local fauna and flora. Poles & Underground fully complied with and managed all environmental requirements.
Poles & Underground was contracted by Essential Energy to construct 60km of 132kV overhead transmission line from Cooma to Browns Mountain as part of the replacement of the existing 100km 66kV transmission line from Cooma to Bega to improve power supply to the south coast of NSW. P&U completed Section 1 (49.5 km and 236 poles) and Section 2 (10.5km and 38 poles) of the new transmission line.
This project was remarkable for the speed at which Section 1 was completed. The work included erection of 236 steel poles and the tension stringing of 50km of conductor and OPGW. This work was completed within 18 working weeks.
