Scope

P&U designed and built a 20km 66kV dedicated feeder from the Ulan zone substation to the new Wilpinjong open cut coal mine that was being constructed in the Mudgee area. P&U installed 10km of 22kV local distribution mains for Essential Energy on the same poles. P&U also built a substation and infrastructure for supply of power to the mine for bore pumps, signalling for the new rail loop, etc.

The project included materials procurement and clearing the route for the power line. The route passed through extensive farming and grazing land and involved several rail crossings.

The P&U Difference

P&U understood and appreciated the environmental issues involved in working on farming and grazing land and worked with the farmers to minimise impacts.

From the outset, the project had a tight construction time frame. After the project was underway the deadline was accelerated by one month to meet the client’s new target. P&U was able to achieve the new deadline!
